We participate in the Academ-E Program. This is a program offered to Highview students through the University of Maine over the last few years. Students must have an honors academic status with a GPA of 3.0 or higher to qualify for the program. They are selected by the University from nominations sent in from the Administration of a school. Every student we have nominated in the past has been selected and have completed the courses with an average GPA of 3.8-4.0. These students courses have all been paid for by scholarship. The only expense to the student is the cost of the books. The classes are done online right in the classroom.
From the "Class of 2009", we had one graduate who had completed courses during the Junior and Senior year at Highview and graduated with 13 college credits. These credits are transferrable to any college in the nation. For the cost of tuition at Highview, that student not only received her high school diploma but also completed one semester of college. That is hard to beat! What an awesome opportunity for students and their families.
